Mobile Makers Youth and Family Day Workshop

  • Lot Lab 1 5th Street Boston, MA, 02129 United States (map)

Join Boston Public Art Triennial and Mobile Makers for a hands-on design workshop at Lot Lab!

Ifé Franklin, Matthew Okazaki, and Hugh Hayden all work to transform fraught local and national histories through their sculptural installations at Lot Lab. These monuments bring previously untold stories into the present and ask viewers to reflect on remembrance and public memory. Which stories are told often, and how? Who chooses our monuments? How might we make space for new stories and monuments?

On August 11, 2024, join Boston Public Art Triennial and Mobile Makers for a hands-on, family-friendly design workshop to create monuments you wish to see in your city. Build a small-scale structure of your own, or work with others to piece together a larger, temporary monument at Lot Lab!

PLEASE NOTE: Due to inclement weather on August 10, this event has been rescheduled for Sunday, August 11, 2024 from 11 AM — 1 PM.

Mobile Makers is a non-profit organization that makes design education accessible to all. Founded in Chicago, Illinois, in 2017, Mobile Makers encourages conversation about creating positive change in our lived environments by means of design and skill-building workshops aimed at youth, ongoing community engagement, and pop-up programs– all facilitated out of a renovated mail truck.
