Proposing Programs + Partnerships
for Triennial 2025: The Exchange
We are now accepting applications for Triennial 2025: The Exchange Program Partners. We ask that partners propose experiential and inclusive programming that aligns with the Boston Public Art Triennial vision of a vibrant, equitable, and open Boston and our value of artistic risk-taking. If you would like to apply, please read the information below, and then fill out the Partner Program Proposal form.
Boston Public Art Triennial defines engagement as public programs and activations that open minds, conversations, and spaces, while keeping public artwork at its core. Intentional, strategic engagement is vital to public art effectively generating relevance and value within communities. Our Board, Staff, Partners, and the artists we collaborate with are Bold, Open, and Sharp. All our programs are always free and open to the public.
Our proven engagement strategy is REACH—Respond, Energize, Activate, Collaborate, and Honor each public space and its community members. While all partners provide different resources at different times, they all share our belief that contemporary public art makes a difference to our communities.
The Triennial is accepting program partner submissions through December 1, 2024. Please note that we give priority to applications submitted by the deadline. We will continue to review applications on a rolling basis afterwards through February 3, 2025.
The Partnership + Engagement Team will follow up on applications in January 2025.

+ Bold The organization takes artistic or programmatic risks; they are brave in supporting untested artists and ideas that build towards a more equitable region.
+ Open The organization actively works to translate its work for a general audience and provides access to formerly exclusive spaces or experiences. Their programming uses the framework of The Exchange to offer new perspectives and experiences for audiences, breaking down silos of knowledge and cultural gatekeeping.
+ Sharp The organization has a learning mindset and an articulated approach to engagement with the audiences it serves.
-
+ Audience The Triennial has a strong community engagement foundation and a growing audience; through partner collaborations, we will be able to connect partners with new audiences and vice versa, further opening up the city and contributing to a more inclusive environment.
+ Visibility The Triennial 2025 is a city-wide exhibition that will be recognized locally, nationally, and internationally. Our partners will be listed on our website and be featured in our catalog and partner press release.
+ Metrics The Triennial can provide the number of program attendees and participants for each event as well as throughout the Triennial as a whole. We anticipate generating 800M impressions.

The vision of the Boston Public Art Triennial is being realized thanks to many bold Bostonians and we welcome your participation.
FURTHERING OUR REACH
We work closely to engage with all communities through our Community Listening Sessions and Public Art Ambassador programs.
Community Listening Sessions
Boston Public Art Triennial asks, learns, and listens to the communities we serve. Every new artwork is rooted in and responsive to community, engaging curiosity-based dialogue and understanding to build networks throughout Greater Boston.
Public Art Ambassadors
Public Art Ambassadors (PAAs) are on-site representatives who engage the public in conversations about artwork and Boston Public Art Triennial’s mission. PAAs represent and uphold our mission of creating a more vibrant, open, and equitable city by supporting on-site programs, engaging the public in conversation about the artwork, and working together to create a welcoming gathering space.
